September, 1995
Here’s a conversation that went down between me and a classmate in the fall of 1995 as a teacher was running a demonstration of a new piece of software on Windows 95.
[In reference to seeing the new OS in action]
Me: It’s an improvement, but it still seems like a retarded version of a Mac.
Classmate: You do know that Macs are going to be running it when Windows 96 comes out next year.
Me: I didn’t hear that.
To misquote Lou Reed’s “Sad Songs”, somebody else would have broken both of his arms, and it goes to show how wrong you can be. Well, it was 10 1/2 years later and the victory lies in Apple’s hands.
More entries soon while I try to rediscover humor in things.
